Abundant Life Family Coaching is a ministry to the “troubled family”, serving Christ-centered families with the hope of Christ-centered restoration. Abundant Life Family Coaching is in affiliation with Abundant Life Academy, and Abundant Life Academy Ministries.

ALFC originally got its start through Abundant Life Academy (Christian boarding school for troubled teens). Abundant Life Academy offers “Parent Coaching” to all parents of ALA students. Abundant Life Academy is a Christian boarding school for troubled teens located in Kanab, Utah (www.abundantlifeacademy.com). ALA serves good kids from strong Christian families, yet these good kids began to go down the wrong path, hanging out with the wrong crowd, sneaking out, sexually active, and experimenting with drugs/alcohol. This child who once loved Jesus is now beginning to slip, enamored by the frills of secular society, caught in a self-centered and selfish snare. Additionally, this once promising child acts like an “entitled” spoiled monster, refusing to take responsibility for their actions, lying, manipulating, and blaming all their problems on their parents. The troubled parents who reach out to Abundant Life Academy and enrolled find hope through ALA Parent Coaching.

At Abundant Life Academy the staff realize that “troubled teens” is a family problem, not a problem of the child alone. Therefore, as a part of the boarding school experience Abundant Life Academy works strongly with the family (parents). At ALA it is believed that restoring a troubled teen is impossible unless you deal with the entire family. The problem with the troubled teen is rarely an isolated issue… meaning; the parents usually have a part in the development of the troubled teen. Therefore, at ALA it makes no sense to address the child’s issues without working with the parents simultaneously.

Over many years ALA parents who experienced the restoration of their child and family gained incredible experience, consequently becoming eager to share the blessing with others. As a matter of fact, many of the current staff of Abundant Life Academy are parents of former ALA students. Their ALA experience was so awesome that they changed their entire lives to join the ministry team at Abundant Life Academy. Essentially, in their experience with ALA some parents received a “calling” to minister to other parents. In reality, Abundant Life Family Coaching is a ministry of parent’s… parents who have been touched by God’s love eager to help other parents who are hurting.

Abundant Life Academy’s first Parent Coach, Mary Ozurovich, was a parent of a former ALA student. Mary’s ALA experience changed her life, and ever since she has been sharing the blessing by giving back to new parents of ALA students. God used Mary’s experience to provide hope for hundreds of ALA parents. Now, Mary has moved on to establish a network of former ALA parents willing and able to reach out to hurting families. The idea is to go beyond Abundant Life Academy and reach out to all families who are hurting. ALFC Parent Coaching is an early intervention program hoping to restore the family so the parents won’t have to enroll their child into a boarding school like Abundant Life Academy. Basically, ALFC Parent Coaching was established to give back, to use the experience of ALA parents to proactively help other parents before they have to place their child into Abundant Life Academy.
